Imam Mamadou Toure (imamtoure@wecanliveinpeace.org)

Imam Mamadou Toure is the founder and president of the Institute of Islamic and Inter-faith Studies. Currently an Imam at the Bilal Mosque in Beaverton, Oregon, he is also the co-host of Al-Islam in focus, a local television program which disseminates accurate information about Islam.

Imam Toure is an emerging national voice calling for a meaningful interfaith dialogue as an important prerequisite to world peace. Imam Toure travels extensively,both nationally and internationally to speak on Islamic spirituality, inter-faith dialogue and world peace.He has been hosted by several churches and synagogues and has engaged in meaningful dialogue with such well-know faith leaders as Rabbi Zalman.

His upcoming book In Search of the Sacred: Religion, Man and World Peace is due out in 2008.

Shaheed A. Haamid (shaheed@wecanliveinpeace.org)

Shaheed Abdullah Haamid is a native of New York City. He moved to Portland, Oregon in February of 1980 and at that time assisted in the coordination of Imam W. Deen Mohammed Speaks radio program of KBOO-90.7 FM. Shaheed continues to coordinate Islamic programs on KBOO weekly. In 1983, Shaheed developed a television program for Portland Cable Access called "Al-Islam In Focus," to address the negative stereotypes of Muslims in the media. Shaheed also wanted to provide a forum for inter-faith discussion and dialog Shaheed Continues to produce, direct and co-host "Al-Islam In Focus" under the auspices of his production company "Muslim American Media Initiative, Inc." Shaheed hold a Associates degree in General; Studies from Portland Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Portland and a Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University in New York City. Shaheed is currently employed as a clinical Coordinator for the Marion County Health Department and volunteers as Muslim Chaplain for Multnomah County Department of Corrections.

Salma is currently President of the Islamic Society of Greater Portland (founded in 1986). She is a council member of Human Rights Council of Washington County, Oregon, "Erase Race Profiling" (spearheaded by Portland Mayor Tom Potter and Police Chief Rosie Sizer), the Inter-religious Committee for Peace in the Middle East and a member of both the Inter-faith Council of Greater Portland and the Inter-religious Action Network/Vision Action Network of Washington County. She is a Board Member of the One Ummah Foundation in Memory of Mustafa Saeed Rahman.
